As a working stylist and the creator of Skin Delicious Body So Fine, I get asked constantly how I maintain my long hair, and what hair care regime I use to keep it so healthy & strong? I absolutely love using oil and creamy styling aids in place of harsh gels and hairsprays. Don’t get me wrong I love hairspray when appropriate but 99% of the time Im preserving my long locks.
STEP 1
Pre shampoo treatments are a must! Before I shampoo I try to always oil my ends this is the simple difference that will set your luscious locks a side from the rest. WHY? Because you are putting in the work that it takes to have envious long hair, believe me this simple step most will skip.
STEP 2
I condition and than rinse my hair twice. Each time leaving my conditioner on for five minutes or so to get the maximum benefit. The first time is to seal my cuticle after opening them up with the wash, and the second is to moisturize and smooth my cuticle back down, so my hair will be super shiny. BONUS Tip: Rinse in cold water to make hair shine even more! On my shampooless days I re-condition for a fresh start. CONDITIONERS: I am currently using my own deep conditioner Creamy Coconut Delight or Moisture Lust, and in addition to that I only use professional products.
BONUS Tip: I deep condition my long locks with Creamy Coconut Delight mixed with “MY MOJO” weekly under a hooded dryer for maximum moisture, or I will sleep with Moisture Lust conditioner in my hair and rinse in the morning.
Then I towel dry my hair, being gentle using a blotting motion to create the least amount of tangles.
STEP 3
I finger comb our NEW leave in ALOE MOISTURE GLEE from root to tip and “MY MOJO” Top Shelf both from the black label collection on my ends very lightly s to add shine and smoothness.
Step 4
For my styling I like to part my hair using a soft touch and a pick taking my time combing through starting from the bottom working my way up. I Scrunch up my product and let air-dry leaving my locks wavy and silky. If I choose to blow dry I like to round brush my layers and flat iron the front, but this is my every day routine so it is pretty low key and focused on protective hairstyling.
*It truly is important to have a good hair cut. Style can be cut into your long locks. How ever you choose to wear it this is a simple way to get control!
